Project summary :

This interdisciplinary project “Development of efficient clad-pumped fiber optical amplifiers for telecommunication systems” (DOPAnT) addresses challenges of developing a new fiber optical amplifier for optical transmission systems. In particular, the focus of this project is on investigation of doped fiber amplifiers. More specifically combination of different dopant and double-clad profile fibers pumped with cost-efficient multimode light sources for use in wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) transmission systems to increase optically transparent path length.
Project aims to develop wide-band optical signal amplifier using combined doped fibers and efficient clad-pumping technique to achieve high and uniform gain and improved performance for fiber optical communication systems.

Keywords: optical fiber communication, telecommunications, fiber optical amplifiers, doped optical fibers, solid state physics.
