The Visual Perception Laboratory at the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia is developing a solution for amateur astronomers: waveform sensors. Scientists want to offer a new solution instead of outdated alternatives. The lab is working on adaptive optics that can improve the performance of telescopes. For this solution, commercialization discussions are already underway with leading companies in the field.

“The constant focus of the UL ISSP is to work closely with industry, testing win-win concepts, as companies need scientific support and infrastructure to develop new initiatives and assess the value of investing in a particular product. The market sets its own requirements that must be met for a new revolution to take place,” says leading researcher and director of the ISSP, Dr. phys. Andris Anspoks.
