The position

The position entails working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group of physicists, chemists, and materials scientists on organic, inorganic, and hybrid thermoelectric materials. The successful candidate will work within a new research group led by Dr. Kaspars Pudzs, focusing on synthesizing and studying material properties for thermoelectric applications. The main responsibilities include R&D activity on 2D and 3D thermoelectric material synthesis, developed material characterization with different analytical techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, etc.), blend formation from developed thermoelectric materials with organic compounds, and characterizing TE properties. The candidate will also be responsible for dissemination through publications, patents, and conference presentations. The candidate will work in a highly multidisciplinary research team and will have access to state-of-the-art facilities for device fabrication and characterization within ISSP UL clean rooms.

The requirements for the position include:

  • A PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or similar disciplines. A background in nanomaterial synthesis and characterization as well as in thermoelectric materials is an advantage.
  • Laboratory skills in device fabrication, electron microscopy, and TE characterizing techniques are an advantage.
  • Teamwork in a highly cross-disciplinary environment.
  • The ability to properly report, organize, and publish research data.
  • Good skills in oral and written English.

Compensation and benefits

  • Hourly salary rate: 19 EUR/h
