THE 100 YEARS ANNIVERSARY TO NOETHER THEOREM

Oļģerts Dumbrājs (ISSP UL) speaks at the scientific workshop of ISSP UL Doctoral School “Functional Materials and Nanotechnologies” on November 15 at 13:00, Ķengaraga street 8, 2nd floor hall.

German mathematician Emmy Noether discovered fundamental connection between symmetry in nature and conservation laws. The work “Invariante Variationsorobleme” was published in 1918. It is known in physics as Noether theorem.

100 years on, Noether theorem finds more and more usage.

The presentation will introduce the audience with mathematician’s biography, which will be followed by different examples of symmetry and conservation laws.
