In the award ceremony at the Small Guild the City Council awarded Riga's best companies in 2023. The special Riga Business Award ceremony was held for the third time, and the awards were presented to the most successful companies in six categories - a startup, a global business service centre, information and communication technologies, real estate, biomedicine and manufacturing with high added value.

  • Riga's Startup of the Year – Aerones;
  • Riga's Entrepreneur of the Year in the Global Business Services Sector – SEB Latvija;
  • Riga's Entrepreneur of the Year in the Information and Communication Technologies Sector – Accenture;
  • Riga's Entrepreneur of the Year in the Real Estate Sector – Bonava Latvija;
  • Riga's Entrepreneur of the Year in the Biomedicine Sector – Cellbox Labs;
  • Riga's Entrepreneur of the Year in the High-added Value Manufacturing Sector – SAF Tehnika.

The founders of Cellbox Labs are the leading researchers of our institute's Micro and Nano-devices Laboratory Gatis Mozoļevskis and Roberts Rimša, as well as the scientist of the Biomedical Research and Study Center Artūrs Ābols. The biotechnology startup Cellbox Labs is developing organs-on-a-chip that could help pharmaceutical companies test new drugs more efficiently.

 

The Riga Investors Advisory Council selected the winners of the award. The companies have been nominated for the award in line with the criteria by the associations of the respective sectors - Latvia's Startup Association Startin.lv, Latvia's Global Business Service Centers Association ABLS Latvia, Latvia's Information and Communication Technologies Association (LIKTA), Alliance of Real Estate Developers (NĪAA), Latvian Association of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry (LAKIFA), Latvian Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association (LETERA).
