The first award ceremony of L'Oréal and UNESCO's Baltic Young Talent Programme for Women in Science has taken place since the beginning of the pandemic. On August 23 winners of the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 were honoured for their achievements and contributions to science, research and innovation. For outstanding research in the fields of life and environmental sciences, physical sciences, formal sciences, technology and engineering, 21 talented researchers from the Baltics were awarded.

L´Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talents Baltic regional program has been established with aim to promote, enhance and encourage the contribution of young women pursuing research careers in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Today Baltic For Women in Science Young Talents Program is implemented in partnership of L´Oréal Baltic, Academies of Sciences and UNESCO National Commissions in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

In 2020, the prestigious award received Ivita Bite, a researcher at the Laboratory of Optical Materials our institute’s, for her research about the influence of various chemical synthesis methods on the morphological and physical properties of materials. In 2021, Inga Pudža, a researcher at the EXAFS spectroscopy laboratory, became the laureate of the award for her work on the study of smart material copper molybdate (CuMoO4).
