Aluminum-containing waste such as drink cans, chip bags, and foil can, under specific conditions, become a valuable raw material for green energy production. In the latest episode of "ZinLAB: Latvia x Switzerland. The Future Begins Here", host Mārtiņš Spuris visits the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL), to follow the journey from waste to hydrogen alongside our researchers.

In the video, Anzelms Zukuls, Lead Researcher at the ISSP UL Laboratory of Energy Materials, introduces the LACISE project under the Swiss-Latvian "Applied Research" cooperation program and explains why producing hydrogen from aluminum waste is a vital step toward sustainable energy. Furthermore, Lab Assistant Ņikita Griščenko demonstrates and explains the innovative process developed by ISSP UL scientists to extract hydrogen from water using aluminum.

Could this technology find practical applications in our future energy landscape? Watch the full video to discover how science turns everyday waste into a valuable energy resource!
