They are modern-day rockstars whose “hits” are changing the world. Instead of guitars, they rely on lasers, microscopes, and data, and their stages are laboratories. On September 25, from 17:00 to 21:00, the University of Latvia (UL) and the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) invites everyone to the European Researchers' Night, where scientists have prepared special activities and sights to behold.
In this year's UL Researchers' Night campaign, researchers are portrayed as renowned music artists and archetypes. Fot example, as "Florence + the Machine" proves on stage, fragility can be incredibly powerful – this same principle is demonstrated daily in science by ISSP UL researcher Annamarija Trausa. The nanomaterials she studies are invisible to the naked eye, yet they unlock tremendous possibilities and power for future technologies.
We invite you to visit ISSP UL on the evening of September 25 to meet our institute's research "rockstars" in person. It will be an excellent opportunity to step inside the laboratories where tomorrow's technologies are being created, ask questions, and discover the true sound of science.
