On 18 April, the largest physics festival in the Baltics took place, also marking the final stage of the FIZMIX physics and erudition competition for Latvian school students. Children and adults alike had the opportunity to explore the world of science and STEAM careers through engaging and informative activities organized by Latvian and Estonian science centres, companies, universities, and research institutions – including the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL).

At the ISSP UL stand, visitors could learn more about energy sources like hydrogen, assemble their own batteries, gain a closer look at the properties of electromagnetic fields and light, and view solar-powered model cars for the upcoming Solar Cup competition.

The objective of the Elektrum Physics Festival and the FIZMIX erudition competition is to foster interest in the exact sciences and encourage young people to pursue careers in these fields – goals that the ISSP UL embodies and is always proud to support!
