Solar Cup 2025
The Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) invites students to participate in the annual science and technology competition Solar Cup 2025, which will take place on 24 May 2025!
Students from grades 5-12 will have the opportunity to make driving and floating vehicle models, that run entirely on solar energy. The “People's Class” category participants will have the opportunity to use materials provided by the ISSP UL, and in the “Non-Standard Class” category they can create their own models.
In the lead up to the on-site competition, students will form teams of 2-3 participants and use solar panels and motors* provided by the ISSP UL, as well as materials available to them, to create solar-powered models for the different disciplines of the competition.
*To receive the solar panels and motors, teams must submit descriptions and sketches of their models to the organisers.

COMPETITION RULES 
Competition day – 24 May at the ISSP UL (Ķengaraga iela 8, Riga)
During the day, participants will compete with their solar-powered models, listen to educational lectures and learn more about renewable energy sources.
The best teams and the most innovative models will receive prizes!
This will be the 17th edition of the Solar Cup and the aim is always to inspire young people to think about science, technology, and a sustainable future.
