Yuri was born in Riga in 1949, and devoted all his life to education and science. After graduation from the Latvian University, Yuri received PhD in chemistry and worked in many International research centers, including Canada, Germany and the USA. He was an excellent scientist as well as science organizer. Yuri established and headed for many years very successful Laboratory of the computational modelling of the electronic structure, supervised many MS and PhD studies. His achievements were recognized by E.Silinsh prize of the Latvian Academy of Sciences.
