On March 5th, the business opportunity festival “Icebreakers’26” took place at the University of Latvia (UL) House of Science, gathering over 700 students, researchers, young entrepreneurs, industry experts, and policymakers to discuss the future of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship in Latvia.
Throughout the day, the festival featured panel discussions, idea pitches, company demonstrations, workshops, and networking activities. This year, special attention was given to the role of information and communication technologies in innovation and business development, examining them within the broader context of entrepreneurship and societal transformation.
Researchers from the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) also participated in the event, sharing their experience in the commercialization of innovations – highlighting projects such as the underwater monitoring technology Spectromarine and the antimicrobial coating manufacturer LumiCoat. We are always thrilled to support events that promote the development of technology and innovation in Latvia!
