On Thursday, 27 November, during a special ceremony organised by the Cabinet of Ministers, the government recognised this year’s award recipients. Among them was Andris Šternbergs – Deputy Director for Science at the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) – who received the award for his outstanding lifetime contribution to the development of science in Latvia in the fields of materials science and nanotechnology.

Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, presenting the highest state award conferred by the government, emphasised the laureates’ significant contributions to society and the advancement of Latvia. The ceremony was also widely covered by Latvian media.

We congratulate Andris Šternbergs on this high recognition and express our gratitude for his contribution to science, the institute’s development, and the growth of young researchers.
