On November 11, the BioPhoT team – platform leader Osvalds Pugovičs and ISSP UL mentors Kaija Jansone and Jānis Latvels – participated in an event organized by the State Innovative Capital Companies Initiative (VIKI) at Getliņi EKO, a place where innovation meets sustainability.
During the visit, the team presented BioPhoT’s mission to build a bridge between science and industry, showcasing the platform’s role in uniting experts in biotechnology, photonics, and advanced technologies. Participants also learned about the new Industry Challenge initiative, which invites companies to share real-world challenges for scientists to solve with innovative, science-driven approaches – fostering collaboration and new product development.
The event also gave participants an opportunity to explore the Getliņi EKO landfill operations, visit the modern greenhouses, and discover practical solutions shaping the future of the circular economy.
BioPhoT’s participation marks another step toward strengthening cooperation with industry and creating joint innovations that benefit both science and society.
