On 4 September, for the second year in a row Riga welcomed the European Hydrogen Valleys Forum – a major platform for advancing hydrogen technologies through international cooperation. The opening event at the University of Latvia (UL) brought together government officials, members of the scientific community, and industry representatives.
The forum clearly demonstrated – the development of the hydrogen sector in Latvia is no longer just a vision for the future; it is already happening today, with several tangible examples in public transport and other transportation services. Participants unanimously emphasized further priorities: expanding infrastructure, launching new projects, and fostering closer cooperation between the state, businesses, and science.
The Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL), also fully recognizes the role of hydrogen technologies in the vision of future energy – evidenced by our extensive project portfolio that has been and continues to be active in this field. We were also represented at the opening event of the European Hydrogen Valleys Forum – ISSP UL’s Head of the Laboratory of Energy Materials, Gints Kučinskis, introduced the audience to hydrogen innovations and our researchers who are paving the way toward the energy of the future.
