After an extended pause during the Summer, on 2 September we restarted a long-held tradition – Scientists’ breakfast, where every month a subject matter expert is invited to speak about their topic of expertise.

This time, we welcomed Alex Popov to bring clarity to everything diamonds. He spoke on their classification, the history of Indian jewels, and specific examples of the legendary Golconda diamonds, sharing their colourful stories.

Alex Popov has been in the diamond industry for more than 25 years, running his own jewellery company and cooperating with partners like Swiss watchmakers. A large portion of his career has been spent on representing the diamond industry and dissemination, for example, with founding the Facets of Mankind – the World Diamond Museum with the goal of making knowledge on diamonds more accessible.
