On 19 August 2025, Aigars Ekers, the new Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at the University of Latvia, visited the Institute of Solid State Physics, UL (ISSP UL).

During his visit, the Dean met with ISSP UL Director Andris Anspoks for a discussion on cooperation opportunities and future directions. They continued with a tour of ISSP UL’s research infrastructure, including the cleanrooms, as well as the Microscopy, Spectroscopy, and Energy Materials laboratories.

For a long time, ISSP UL has been the place many FST students use to write their study works, with some staying on as professionals. The visit highlighted the shared commitment of both institutions to furthering and strengthening collaboration in research, education, and innovation.
