On June 27, a meeting was held at the conference hall of the Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP UL) with representatives of the Latvian Council of Science and experts from the Horizon Europe National Contact Point in Latvia. The aim of the meeting was to discuss current project calls for Autumn 2025 and exchange plans for 2026.

Jānis Ancāns, Dace Sīle, and Marija Plotniece provided the participants with a closer overview of:

  • Horizon Europe National Contact Point support instruments

  • MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships

  • Interregional Innovation Investments (i3)

  • EIC Pathfinder and EIC Transition programmes

  • ERC Synergy Grant

  • Horizon WIDERA, including the Hop-On Facility

The discussion emphasized the importance of timely preparation and inter-institutional cooperation to effectively utilize the funding instruments of the Horizon Europe programme and to strengthen the international competitiveness of Latvian science in the long term. Such events not only provide researchers with the opportunity to familiarize themselves with current calls and funding mechanisms but also promote strategic planning, partnership building, and the alignment of research ideas with European research priorities.

Special thanks to the National Contact Point experts for their professional support in explaining programme opportunities and providing practical advice for proposal preparation.
