On 3 June, the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP UL) held the official kick-off meeting for the new ERDF-funded applied research project GoFarUV led by Edgars Butanovs, Senior Researcher at the Thin Film Laboratory.
GoFarUV aims to develop novel solar-blind UVC photodetectors based on amorphous AlGaO semiconductor thin films, using a high-rate, scalable magnetron sputtering technology. This innovative approach promises breakthroughs in UVC sensing for applications in environmental monitoring, security and beyond.
The project unites academic and industrial expertise, with AGL Technologies and RD ALFA Microelectronics as the key SME partners.
During the meeting, the project team aligned on core administrative topics, outlined the implementation roadmap and finalized the activity plan – an exciting kick off to this 3-year journey of bringing Latvian innovation closer to high-tech commercialization.
