The Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia's (ISSP UL) Micro and Nano Devices Laboratory invites applications for the position of Researcher in Biosensor Development (1 full-time position, fixed-term until March 2028). The laboratory focuses on the fabrication of photonic and electrical sensors, as well as microfluidic devices.


Main responsibilities:

  • Conduct experiments, including surface functionalization using aptamers;
  • Fabricate microdevices;
  • Characterize and document experimental results;
  • Prepare experimental reports and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field;
  • Good command of English;
  • Ability to work independently, organize tasks, foresee and solve experimental challenges;
  • Motivation to learn and acquire new knowledge, including preparation of procurement lists for necessary materials;
  • High sense of responsibility, ability to work independently and in a team, and active participation in laboratory and institute activities;
  • Previous experience in surface chemistry analysis and surface functionalization will be considered an advantage.
