The conference is devoted to 30th anniversary of Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia.

 

The Organizing Committee kindly invites you to take part in the International Baltic Sea Region conference “Functional materials and nanotechnologies” 2008.

FM&NT-2008 is organised by Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia

The conference is organised in co-operation with projects ERANET “MATERA” and National Research programme in Materials Science of Latvia

We are also kindly asking you to forward this information to any of your colleagues who may be interested in attending the FM&NT-2008.

Scope

The purpose of the conference is to bring together scientists, engineers, and students from universities, research institutes and related industrial companies aware from the field of advanced material science and materials technologies.

Official language: The official language of the Conference is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

  • Organic materials for photonics and nanoelectronics
  • Advanced methods for investigation of nanostructures
  • Perspective biomaterials and medicine technologies

Oral Presentations

The time for oral presentations (including discussion time) will be limited as follows:
- Invited Lecture: 20 minutes.
- contributed oral presentations: 15 minutes.

 

Poster Presentations

The accepted posters will be grouped by topic. The size of the poster is A0 (portrait format). Posters can be fixed with pins that will be available at the poster area.

During the conference will be organized poster competition.

The event will take place in Riga, Kengaraga 8, in the Conference hall of the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia (ISSP LU), 1-4 April, 2008.

Tram No 7 price - 40 or 50 santims ( ~57 or 71EU cents)

The most advisable way to come in time in peak hours

25 min from Opera to Kengaraga str.+ 5 min walking to ISSP (direction to Daugava river)

 

You can buy the tram ticket in the first wagon, preferable to pay with coins – 50 sant/ticket or, better – you can buy tickets in news-stall (NARVESSEN etc.).- 40 sant/ticket.

Changing the transport, You have to buy a new ticket.

 

You have to go to Opera and get in the tram No 7, direction – DOLE (You have to wait on the side opposite to Opera building)Walking Konventa seta - Opera – 5-6 min

time in tram Nr 7 from Opera to Kengaraga iela – 22 min

The Proceeding of the Conference will be published in 3 International Journals:

2) Acta Materialia Acta Materialia is an Elsevier journal. Only limited number (about 30) of top quality works will be accepted. The maximum length of manuscript must be less than 10 printed pages in length. The preferred format for manuscript submission is Microsoft Word. Graphics should be in digital form (minimum 300 dpi). 3) Scripta Materialia Scripta Materialia is an Elsevier journal. The maximum length of manuscript must be less than 4 journal pages with not more than 6 figures.
