Radiation-induced degradation phenomena in functional materials for extreme environment

Latvian Council of Science

PI: A.I. Popov

Duration: 2024-2026

The main goal is a detailed analysis of long-time radiation stability of heavily irradiated optical and scintillator materials based on a careful analysis of the defect annealing kinetics. The advanced in-house characterization, including optical, radiation/matter interaction and chemical analyses will be applied for detailed comparison of irradiated/non-irradiated samples.  In addition, the capabilities of European large scale facilities, such as synchrotron radiation (DESY (Hamburg), MAXIV (Lund) and neutron (ILL (Grenoble), PSI (Zurich)) will be used.
