Development of new advanced phosphors for lighting and non-contact optical thermometry

Latvian Council of Science

PI: E.A. Kotomin

Duration: 2024-2026

The main goal of this project is a computer designed development of novel highly efficient phosphor materials for lighting (white LEDs for homes and plant growth) and non-invasive optical thermometry for biological and medical applications. Theoretical calculations of electronic and optical properties of targeted compounds and deep analysis of fundamental relations between their structure and physical characteristics will identify the most promising materials to be studied in detail experimentally. The project implementation will be based on a synergetic cooperation between highly experienced multidisciplinary theoretical and experimental teams from Latvia and abroad with a proven history of successful joint research.
